To live at Canyon Lake is a treat. Hills and valleys. Rivers and Lakes. White tail deer and bright red cardinals. The water is clear and cool — created by a dam on the Guadalupe River. When your boat is cutting through the water you can see the clear green-blue color and know this is one of the best lakes in Texas. People are friendly. For good reason, we live in one of the most beautiful regions of the best state in the country.
Canyon Lake was created in 1966 and at normal pool (909 ft. elevation) by 1968. Canyon Dam, a US Army Corps of Engineers project, was built to prevent flooding downstream and for water conservation. While its primary purpose did not include recreation, there are marinas, boat ramps, and parks.
